Recapping Monday at E3

During what I'm going to call Day 0 at E3, I watched Electronic Arts and Ubisoft preview a couple of dozen upcoming titles for the Wii, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. But the real buzz at the show was from Microsoft's morning press conference. A raging headache and only two hours' sleep on Sunday night kept me from Activision's bash at the Staples Center.

Mafia II on PC: Pretty shattering glass! 3D! Billowing clothes!

I recently got a chance to preview the PC build of 2K Games' "Mafia II." The game will sport some nifty new technology governing the behavior of clothing and destructible scenery, and be playable in 3D. Here are my impressions.

‘ModNation Racers’ hands-on

With robust character-, vehicle- and track-customization features, upcoming PlayStation 3 exclusive "ModNation Racers" looks to one-up "Mario Kart Wii." I got a chance to play the game and talk to its creators at last week's Game Developers Conference in San Francisco.

Just call it ‘Gears of Warcraft’

Bethesda Softworks took the wraps off of its newest third-party title. No, not "Fallout: New Vegas," but a game from inXile Entertainment called "Hunted: The Demon's Forge." The two-player co-operative dungeon crawler uses Epic's Unreal 3 game engine and looks so much like a fantasy version of "Gears of War" that I'm content to call it "Gears of Warcraft."

Guilty Party hands-on, impressions

Based on a preview at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, Wideload's upcoming, Disney-published mystery game is that rare four-player title that has this childless gamer hoping I'll be able to wrangle some families together and play it the way it was meant to be played.
