DJ Hero 2 preview
I recently got a chance to try out "DJ Hero 2," and it was good enough that I've become a convert for the first game, which I wrote off as being too expensive when it first launched.

"Power Gig: Rise of the SixString" aims to take on Activision's "Guitar Hero" and MTV's "Rock Band," but it's got a steep mountain to climb.
During a recent opportunity to play "Rock Band 3," I got to sing on a stage in front of a roomful of people, plus struggle on keyboards as a cameraman filmed me. No wonder bands lip sync during video shoots. It's nerve-wracking stuff.
This week's What I Played features a few mini-previews for upcoming games "Dead Space: Ignition," "Shank" and "Spare Parts."
I got a chance to play "Dead Space 2" and ask a few questions of one of its producers this week. Here's how the game's coming along ahead of its Jan. 25 launch.

My visit to E3 in Los Angeles last month marked the second time I've gotten a look at "Civilization V," the next title in Firaxis Games' ridiculously addictive series in which players found a civilization at the dawn of recorded history and guide it into the modern era [...]
This week's What to Play starts off with a longer-than-usual summary of Xbox Live Arcade shooter "Blacklight: Tango Down," which I saw at E3. Other noteworthy releases include "Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Sky" and "Crackdown 2," which I reviewed earlier this week.
With "Rock Band 3" set to release soon and only a handful of tracks announced thus far, it's time to take a look at what we'd like to see in the game. These 10 tracks all feature either keyboards or vocal harmonies, two features this game has that "Rock Band 2" didn't. One of the 10 is brutally difficult and would give players of the new "pro" mode a run for their money.
"Rock Band 3's" incorporation of keyboards and vocal harmonies, plus a robust new "pro" mode that makes gameplay more like playing a real-life instrument, should give the slumbering music genre of games a much needed shot in the arm.
