E3: Day 2 (Skyrim, Modern Warfare 3, BioShock Infinite)
Big titles like "BioShock Infinite," "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3" and "The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim" were the highlights of my second full day on the show floor at E3.
Some quick thoughts on Nintendo's press conference, Atlus' erotic adventure/puzzle game "Catherine," Ubisoft's "Rayman Origins" and four big titles from EA.
On Monday, Sony named and priced its new handheld gaming device, and publishers showed off about a bazillion games. And E3 hasn't even started yet.
Slow down everybody. “Call of Duty Elite” is not a sign of the apocalypse. If it’s done right, Activision's new social networking service will combine the vapid addictiveness of social networking sites with the smack-talking fun of online first-person shooters.
With the exception of off-road racing title "Dirt 3," it's a pretty slow week.
The big release this week is "L.A. Noire," but if you're playing on PC, you can't overlook "The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings."
"The Darkness" wasn't a megahit when it came out in the summer of 2007 but won a cult audience with its dark, mature story line. The comic-based series is getting a revival this fall, with an overhauled control scheme and a new studio responsible for development.
The PlayStation Network came up Saturday evening/early Sunday, depending on where you live. So have at it! If you're not catching up with old favorites, here's what else is looking good for this weekend.
Sometime after the PlayStation Network comes back up, we'll get a chance to try out Lexis Numerique's upcoming survival horror game "Amy," about a woman who has to stay near a little girl or take drugs to avoid turning into a zombie.
Depending on your gaming likes and dislikes, Splash Damage's teamwork-oriented first-person shooter "Brink" is either a breath of fresh air or a complicated, frustrating, glitchy mess. That's because it's both of those things. I fall into the "love it" camp but can't begrudge the haters.
