You’d think with kids out of school for the summer, game publishers would be flooding the marketplace with quality titles looking to capture some of that summer job dollar. But you’d be wrong. “NCAA Football 10″ is the only big retail release this week. Luckily, Sony and Microsoft are filling the void with some downloadable goodness.

SPOILER ALERT: This blog post revolves around “Broken Steel,” the new downloadable content for “Fallout 3″ that continues the game’s story beyond its original ending. In the course of reviewing “Broken Steel,” I’ll be discussing the conclusion of “Fallout 3″ as well as how “Broken Steel” reworks it. I also briefly touch upon the plot of “Fable II.” While I won’t go into specifics, some of what I discuss could …

While the popularity of the Wii and the success of music titles and online first-person shooters have helped make 2008 the Year of Social Gaming, sometimes you want to spend a few hours alone in a deep, immersive world, without sitting in an online lobby or coordinating strategy with a bunch of foul-mouthed 14-year-olds. For those days, there’s “Fallout 3,” Bethesda Softworks’ epic, single-player hybrid of role-playing game and first-person …
