Calendar full of promising games

Blogger’s note: This list of upcoming games I’m looking forward to appeared recently in The Press Democrat, but I held it back for publication so that I could add a few more titles I didn’t have room for in print. Now that every video game company has cleared the decks of new titles to get ahead of Christmas, gamers are catching up on three months’ worth of stellar games. But that doesn’t mean we can’t pause between sessions of “Skyrim”… Read More »

My 2011 Game of the Year and runners-up

It’s been such a great year for video games I could make a convincing year-end top-five list featuring only games I came nowhere near finishing. The games I did play in 2011 astounded. Even Rayman himself, part of a… Read More »

Scaling the pile of shame

The August lull is a great time for catching up on all those games you swore you were gonna play after you finished some of those other games. A quick look at four titles from my backlog. This is a longer version that what appears in Friday’s Press Democrat and includes “Transformers: Dark of the Moon.”… Read More »

What I played (May 16-June 12)

It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these, but nonreview games I’ve managed to sneak in include “Outland” and “Dragon Quest IX.” I’ve also been spending time with old favorites “Bulletstorm” and “Portal 2.”… Read More »
