Don’t let anyone tell you the Giants are underdogs as Game 1 of the World Series gets under way tonight. The developers behind this year’s two major baseball video game franchises are both predicting that the Giants will win their first World Series since moving to San Francisco after the 1957 season.

In a simulation of the World Series run by the developers of “MLB 10: The Show” (rated E, $40 on PlayStation 3, $30 on PlayStation Portable or $20 on PS2), the Giants triumphed over the Rangers in seven games. Pat Burrell was named the Series MVP after clubbing the game-winning homer in the bottom of the 10th inning in Game 7. For more details on San Francisco’s “win,” including video highlights, head on over to the PlayStation blog.

Back at the start of the postseason, 2K sports had the clairvoyance to predict that the Giants would win it all, beating the Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies on their way to the National League pennant. 2K’s game even had the Giants winning the NLCS in six, so we’ll overlook the fact that in “Major League Baseball 2K10,” the Giants outlasted the New York Yankees in seven for their World Series win. (“Major League Baseball 2K10,” rated E, is available for $40 on Wii, Xbox 360 or PS3 and $20 on PC, PS2, DS and PSP.)
